iPhone volume goes up for videos

Ever since installing one of the latest iOS updates, whenever a video starts while my

volume is set all the way down, it turns the volume back up slightly to let me hear the video. While I imagine some people find this helpful, for me it’s an absolute headache. I’m often watching Instagram reels silently (with CC) while my wife sleeps next to me, and having to turn the audio back down for each one is very annoying. On certain videos the volume won’t stay off, it’ll keep going back up no matter what. How do I turn this new feature off?

The only time the sound plays aloud automatically on IG is if the mute/unmute switch is set to unmute ringed. ( To further clarify what switch I’m referring to) it’s that little switch that is on the outer edge right above the volume up/down keys.) Try flipping the switch to mute ringer volume and see if that helps. Also if you go into your IG account settings there are settings so it won’t play automatically as you scroll through your feed.
