How to disable automatic search on iMac

For example I want to search for images with the name "Maze".

I will type M and my computer will immediately start compiling a list of every image that has the letter M in its name.

I remember a time when you specify and narrow a search and then tell the computer to start searching.

To address this issue, you can try adjusting the search settings on your iMac. First, open a Finder window by clicking on the Finder icon in the Dock. Then, navigate to the folder or directory where you want to search.

Next, click on the search bar in the Finder window to activate it. Before typing your search query, take a look at the search options that appear below the search bar. These options allow you to customize your search criteria, such as file type, date modified, and more.

To prevent your computer from starting a search before you've specified what you're searching for, you can try selecting more specific search criteria before typing your query. For example, you can specify that you're searching for images with the name "Maze" by selecting the "Name" option from the search criteria dropdown menu, and then typing "Maze" in the search bar.

By selecting specific search criteria before typing your query, you can narrow down the search results and prevent your computer from starting a search prematurely. This can help improve search performance and reduce unnecessary delays.
