Apple TV 4th Gen Super-Slow, Buffering... Dying?

Hi - I've happily run an Apple TV box Gen 4, not 4K, since 2015. It's 9 years old. tvOS is 17.3, the latest as I write this FEb 15, 2024. My internet network is 1 GB speed. My laptop through wifi receives a very fast download when place in same position as apple TV. The apple TV has slowed way, way down from 25 to.. 1mpbs, wifi or ethernet. Freezing and buffering have become constant on Apple TV on all apps. Restarting does nothing. I don't want to reset, as odds are nothing will improve. Is the Apple TV dying, or did something change with the latest software update. Is Apple slowly killing my Apple TV? Or is it just at end of product life? Or is there a solution?
