I have an ongoing need to bates number documents. If you are not familiar with this, it is used mostly in the legal and medical fields. It sequentially numbers pages, usually pdfs. I am forced to use Adobe Pro on Windows. That is the last Windows hold out I have, otherwise I could shift 100% to Apple. Does anyone know if that is an option with any Apple software or third-party apps?

I would like an alternative and one that works on iPad Pro as well. The versions I reviewed do not have the same options for Mac. I was unable to bates number with the Acrobat versions I tested.

Bates Numbering is an option in Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac. I found it by using the Search box in the Tools sidebar. Mac and iPad versions can be different.

Readdle's PDF Expert for Mac supports Bates Numbering. You'd need to do some exploring to find out if the iPad version does as well. It appears that it does but I don't have the paid version and can't test.
