Why isn't Stolen Device Protection offered on the iPad?

I set up Stolen Device Protection on my iPhone and my son's iPhone. I then went on to update my iPad Pro to IOS 17.3. After which, I went to Face ID and Passcode to set up Stolen Device Protection and didn't find it available.

So if I can have all the information on my iPad, that I have on my iPhone and can use it for purchases, why shouldn't Stolen Device Protection be on the iPad line of products?

Really doesn't make sense to me.

no, from their spec page iPad Pro - Technical Specifications - Apple

"Location

  • Wi-Fi
  • iBeacon microlocation

  • Cellular

"

the wifi only ipads of all generation lack a gps chip, so only know their own location if the wifi router they are connected to knows its location, or of the router the wifi router is connected to knows it's own location and so forth.

I find that silly all iPads that support 17.3 ios have WiFi and GPS (some with sim card or using the esim/paid LTE or real 5g) and support offline finding

Don't get why this isn't available on iPad as its likely to get more often stolen when your out, say at a coffee /food area using your iPad and is likely to be in a unlocked state more often (playing video or longer lock timer)

iPhone is likely to be on person (unless its a Snatch and grab when walking when using phone witch the stolen protection is geared for) or stolen when locked

Someone had over $5000 stolen when there phone was stolen while they was in a taxi but the phone was unlocked (unsure how they bypassed the forced pin reask in the banking app as every banking app I used always re-asks for pin on open)
