Why am I unable to connect my Nikon Z30 camera to my Macbook Pro and iMac

I have a Nikon Z30 creator camera and looking to connect to my computer to use a webcam for Zoom and streaming. I have downloaded Nikon's webcam utility, but my MacBook and iMac are not recognizing the device. I have tried HDMI cables and USB cables.

FYI: The HDMI port on the MacBook Pro is for sending video output to a monitor – not accepting video input from an external device like a Blu-Ray player or a digital camera. That's why using HDMI cables wouldn't work.
