After audio engine overload, audio output and CPU completely dead.

See screenshot below. I'm having a big problem in Mainstage. Have been using the software for almost ten years regularly but this is new to me and I'm stumped.

Whenever I get an Audio System Overload message, the concert no longer routes any audio anywhere and the CPU meter drops dead to zero. I can still click around within the concert and even see MIDI activity in the MIDI window and in the workspace, but all channel strips show zero activity. Can't get any sound out of my plugins either, even when I open up their GUIs and click aroind.

The concert does not operate correctly again until I shut down Mainstage and re-open it.

I am currently on a M1 Max mac, and just moved to it recently. When I was using my 2017 intel-based Mac, I would get the occasional Audio System Overload message here and there, but it wouldn't kill my concert like this. So I don't know what the issue is

I know the first thing to do is to try to avoid the overloads, but my buffer size and latency are already maxed out to the safest possible settings. I've done other optmizations too.

Any one able to point me in a helpful direction?

Your post possibly implies the issue started when you moved from Intel to ARM (i.e. M1). The picture shows a lot of the load is "Vienna In"; what is that? As I previously suggested on an unrelated post, some plugins are not fully M1 compatible and the Vienna might be one. You could try running MainStage under Rosetta to see if that works. If it does, the issue may well be a plugin that does not play well with the M1. To run under Rosetta, shut down MainStage then you need to go to the Finder and the Applications folder; then right click (control click) on MainStage and Get Info; then tick the Rosetta option. Then run MainStage. Good luck.
