iPhone 13 Pro Max A2643 VoNR support

Hi, iPhone 13 Pro Max (Model No: A2643) used to have the option for Voice over 5G Standalone, but it was removed after the iOS 17 update. Why was this done? Now, every time I place a voice call, my phone switches from 5G to 4G to make the call, then switches back post-call. This drains battery life and is annoying. Why did Apple remove such a vital feature from the 13 Pro Max, especially when the same feature was added to the iPhone 14 Pro Max after the iOS 17 update and works flawlessly?

Is this only India related restriction or same everywhere for iPhone 13 Pro Max users?

Hey, thanks for detailed info regarding field test and VoNR. I contacted Jio who said they can’t provide any software updates at all. Since Apple has to provide us option to use Voice over stand alone 5g. But they do support VoNR on those devices which have enabled this option.

In my 14 pro max I can see VoNR option, but it is not present in my 13 pro Max.

This was present on 13 Pro Max also in iOS 16.4 but post updating to iOS 17.3 this is missing.

As far as my knowledge goes...

VoNR stands for Voice over New Radio, which is a voice-calling technology that operates over 5G networks. The latest iPhone models, including the iPhone 12 series, support 5G connectivity. However, the specific availability of VoNR on iPhones may depend on various factors, such as carrier support, network infrastructure, and software updates.

VoNR allows for high-quality voice calls over 5G networks, providing improved call quality, faster call setup times, and better overall voice communication performance compared to previous generations of mobile networks. It utilizes the advanced capabilities of 5G technology to enhance the voice-calling experience.

To determine if your iPhone supports VoNR, you can check with your mobile carrier or refer to the technical specifications provided by Apple for your specific iPhone model. Additionally, staying up to date with the latest iOS software updates can ensure that your iPhone has the latest features and capabilities, including any enhancements related to voice calling over 5G networks.

Please check the bandwidth that you are getting. Disable WiFi before running this Field Test.
