iOS 17.2 Autocorrect Nightmares?

Since updating to iOS 17.2 through current 17.3 I’ve been experiencing the following:

  • Sluggish cursor when typing as if Autocorrect is slowing it down trying to catch up.
  • False positive misspellings and recommending wrong spellings.
  • In some instances, the app crashing when trying to highlight a word or sentence containing autocorrected words.

Anyone else experiencing this or is my device?

With iOS 17, Apple’s autocorrect took a giant nosedive in quality and usefulness. Many suggested replacements aren’t even close to being actual words (in any language), but it’s often a nightmare just trying to edit, select or unselect words that Autocorrect highlights. I can’t believe that there was any quality control or actual testing of this latest version - it’s really that bad. Only solution I know at this point is to turn autocorrect off and just take your chances. This should not be so difficult to get right, or even right-ish. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ll show some examples that happened just from trying to type this post…

I'm not sure if I did something or Apple did something but after a few restarts, now autocorrect is back to normal.

One of the most frustrating things was that it blamed the misspelling on you. The D like arrow means undo autocorrect, indicating user error. However, I tested typing the word and ensuring it was spelled correctly but the same issue. Gadly things are back to normal.
