Apple Gift Card use for repairs

Apple Gift Cards can be used for repairs in store, but not online. I’m a former Apple Store manager and at least when I worked retail we could accept Apple Gift Cards for repairs. I’m not sure how Apple ID Accounts are treated for repair purchases.

Online repairs and use of Apple Gift Cards could be entirely different. Apple Care (online) had different rules than Apple Retail. This leads to confusion, because the online support team may not be aware that it’s different for in store purchases.

It’s also possible Apple has changed their rules for Apple Retail. I would specifically talk to a store manager and ask him/her to review the store’s operations manual. The manual is about 4 to 5 inches thick in a 3 ring binder.

I have gift cards alone as well as some cards that been transferred over to my Apple ID account .

I use to have no issues with gift cards - until a few laptops that were repaired had to be paid via gift cards that I accumulated from trading in older laptops to Apple for credit. Suddenly , it flagged my account and now the process for me is to buy something in-store and return it for cash on the spot to pay for the repair( which is a headache every time).

Then we tried to transfer the gift cards over to my Apple account but that didnt work as well.

Called the Apple customer service before jumping on this community chat and they just confirmed that gift cards cannot be used for repairs made at Apple. Whats going on? lol Pls help!

Apple's customer service confirmed the gift cards cannot be used to make repairs on Apple equipment. Its only intended to make in-store , online, or iPhone App purchases.

Can we get clarification on why my gift cards aren't working anymore in-store for equipment I'm bringing in for repair?

There is no such thing as an Apple Gift Card from Goldman Sachs. Please provide more details, without any account/gift card numbers etc.

The basic question of if Apple Gift Cards can be used for Apple repairs, yes, if done by Apple, not a 3rd party repair service.

Are the funds on the Apple Gift Card or have you redeemed the cards to your Apple ID Account?
