Repair or not the logic board for 2020 MacBook Pro

Bought my MacBook Pro in 2020 and use it only periodically—-today the Genius Bar says I need a new logic board for $599. Is it worth it? They say it’s not considered a quality issue because not enough documented issues of this sort exist. I’m thinking that’s because folks can’t afford the repair so broken computer just go in the trash. No trade in available since it doesn’t start up. Frustrated to the max! Cj

Ugh. I found out I can trade in for 450$ once I know it starts up. I’m so disappointed in what I believed to be a well made high quality product. Apple is no different than anyone else and many of these boards have failed. Apple gets no penalty for poor quality. But I do. I get your point.

No, Apple products rarely see deep discounts.

If course there's also a market for quality used Macs made available by respected resellers:

New, Used and Refurbished Macs - macsales.com

Used Macs - macofalltrades.com

SimplyMacs.com

Beware if considering buying on eBay, Craig's List or other second hand sellers. It's so very easy to be sold only a bill of goods when the Mac or other Apple device isn't prepared properly. Nobody needs to own an expensive brick!

You are addressing other end users here, not Apple. Complaining here accomplishes nothing because Apple won't see your displeasure here.
