As you are aware, according to Apple documentation you should be able to click done. I have tried everything including 4+ hours on chat and phone support. 6+ Apple support specialists including supervisors in Software, Media, and Subscriptions and Billing were unable to figure out and were all pointing fingers at the other. The problem is, they would put you on hold saying that they would be right back, but then a new person unaware of the problem would answer after waiting on hold for 30 minutes at a time.
I don’t know what their plan is because it will only make users more determined to downgrade. Additionally, don’t know what this says about their fiscal situation if they depend on locking users into a plan.
The downgrade won't take effect until the end of the current billing cycle. If the dialog doesn't list an expiry date, see the section of the Related Article above about that issue.
