SImple automation of patch changes not possible in Mainstage??

Hi all, I'm new to Mainstage and was very excited to find it to use in building and playing backing tracks live for a small trio I've formed of 3 singers, two of whom pay guitar and bass. As a guitarist and former audio programmer I took it for granted that simple automation of patch changes would be top of the list of features, so I could make the Markers in my Logic audio files trigger guitar rig changes hands off, as I have to frequently switch between Rhythm and Lead guitar sounds in the same song. I asked ChatGPT if this was possible and it told me YES, and even exactly how to do it. But after a day of trying it seems that it was just "Hallucinating" this idea, ...as I was too apparently (laughs to self) ! I also tried having it play back a Midi file with program change information baked in, but that didn't work either. Seems that Mainstage won't talk midi program changes to itself without a workaround of going out to an IAC driver then back in to Mainstage. I've also read of a paid plugin called "Cue Play" that possibly does what I want in some simple way. I still cannot understand why this feature is NOT within the program. Could someone please confirm that I haven't got this all sadly wrong and I'm missing something fundamental? Apart from this, Mainstage looks like an incredible program. Many thanks!
