Using TEXT tool in Motion but no bounding box

Hi all. I am using the TEXT tool in motion to add text to my project but after the initial typing of the text there is no bounding box that I can use to transform or re-size, etc. I can select the text by double clicking which puffs it out a bit, but when I single click the text there is no bounding bow to indicate that the text is indeed selected and that I can manipulate it. I have made sure that the correct project layer is selected before attempting to edit. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
