Photos app not able to import from iphone

I’m trying to import over 50GB photos from iPhone 15 pro to my new MacBook Pro (M3 pro) running the latest OS and the photos app just keep disappearing after the import starts and tries to import all over again. I tried restarting iPhone and Mac several times to no avail. I was able to transfer from iPhone 14 Pro Max which had about 10GB worth of photos. So I’m suspecting it has something to do with the volume. Image capture is an option but it’s incredibly slow. Let me know if you have faced this/have a solution

I'm having the same problem. Connected my new iPhone 15 Pro Max to my new Macbook Pro M3 Max in Photos. The phone is recognized on the side but when I hit import all new photos (about 4500), nothing happens. Rebooted both MBP and iPhone but made not difference. Very frustrating. I need the import feature in Photos to work with these to devices. I welcome any help Apple can give me to resolve this problem.

This is the first time I have heard this. I always use Image Capture and the speed has been acceptable.

Have you timed the speed with Activity Monitor or some other app? Via lightning and via USB-C on non-Pro new iOS devices the speed should top at USB2 60 MB/s in theory and maybe 30-40 MB/s in practice.
