I was trying to purchase a game and it said your card is about to expire please update to continue. I got my card and it wasn’t about to expire , yet it still won’t let me use it. I tried removing it, it said its not allowed because it’s tied to a subscription, what do I do?

Seems it is your Apple account details that you need to check:
You may need to check whether the expiry date listed for the card on file in your Apple account is expiring ... or if it is the same date as the one on your current card ?
Eg: You can try logging in to your Apple account online to check all your details are correct:

This appears to be a common problem that many folks are experiencing. Apple is aware, but hasn't been able to resolve the issue.
Some folks report that they have added a second payment method, such as PayPal or a different credit card. That allows them to remove the problem credit card. They have then been able to add the card they removed back into their account details and there appear to be no more issues with that card.
