iPad Password Forgotten

I know Apple takes security serious, but I have an interesting dilemma. I belong to a club that has an old iPad 4th Generation. It comes under the control of the current VP, in this case, me. I bought a new ipad and want to transfer the current device to the new one, then update the apps on it. But over the years no one saved the password (not passcode to open it) and I'm pretty sure that somewhere in this process it's going to ask me for the password. Is there a way to work around this? If not, I have an Apple Store near me, could they help?
