Phone carriers support for eSIM on iPhones

I recently purchased an iPhone 14. Then I found out my carrier doesn’t support it because it doesn’t have a physical SIM card. I contacted another carrier I’d consider switching to and found out they don’t support it either. So I returned the 14 and am now waiting on a refund so I can buy the 13. Has anyone else run into this? Do most carriers not support phones with eSIM?

Evidently I spoke to two that don't support it. My current carrier doesn't support it.

SafeLink and Assurance Wireless told me they do not support eSIM. I am located in the USA.

EVERY carrier in the US supports eSIM. And hundreds of carriers outside the US do also, as listed in the link I (and Bob Timmons) provided. Which US carriers told you they don’t support eSIM?

Here is the list of carriers that support eSIM→Find wireless carriers that offer eSIM service - Apple Support

Only iPhones sold in the US do not have a SIM slot; phones bought in any other country in the world have at least one SIM slot, and iPhones sold in China, Hong Kong, Macao and Singapore support 2 physical SIMs.

As phones sold in the US are intended for use in the US, and all US carriers support eSIM, unless you bought a phone in the US and intend to use it in another country you should be able to use it in the US.

If it was your intent to buy a US phone to use elsewhere in the world note that it will not be covered by warranty in any other country than the US.

Every US carrier does NOT support eSIM.

The "Big Three", T-Mobile, ATT, & Verizon support it, but MVNOs are hit or miss.

So, Safelink has decided that they do not want any customers who have purchased new iPhones in the last few years.

Brilliant business decision.

Yes, it's an expensive phone. Yes, Safelink is a low-income carrier, but low income people often use second hand phones gifted to them. I didn't CHOOSE my phone. The battery in my iPhone 6s stopped holding a charge for more than an hour, so the gift of an iPhone 14 seemed like a blessing.
