iPhone 12 iOS 17.2.1 excessive battery drain and overheating

Hello everyone.

In this discussion I would like to complain about the terrible battery life and excessive overheating I’m dealing with on my iPhone 12 after updating to iOS 17.2.1, which they have the audacity to say it’s an update to improve battery life when it has become far worse. In fact, my phone was at 100% an hour ago and currently it already went down to 76% with just barely using it.

Before upgrading I had iOS 17.1.1 and the battery endurance was pretty decent (keep in mind my phone has 88% battery condition), even with heavy usage it would last about a day and it would only get hot when I connected the phone to power.

But after I upgraded to iOS 17.2.1 because it claimed to have better battery life it has become terrible and overheats even in normal temperature conditions. The reason I upgraded from my former iPhone SE 2020 to this iPhone 12 was because of the terrible battery life on the SE and because I was hoping it would have a better battery, which in the beginning did but now after this update the battery feels just like it was on my SE.

Lately I have been feeling so disappointed about Apple, their products and mostly their TERRIBLE updates.

my iPhone SE 2020 barely lasted one year because of how awful the battery was, despite me taking really good care of it and the battery condition lowering to just 87% after a year.

And now my iPhone 12 feels just like a deja vu of my SE on a bigger body and screen.

I really miss the iOS 7-9 days when Apple actually cared about providing great quality products (hardware and software) and you could update your devices to the latest version as soon as they came out without any flaws or battery issues.

Now they just care about hardware because when it comes to software they just present half a** work laggy features in every new iOS version instead of focusing on fixing all the bugs and current laggy features that are present in their devices. It’s like they want to keep up with other competitors creating gimmick ahh features that only make the overall user experience worse.

If anyone knows how I can fix this or what can I do in order to improve my battery life I would really appreciate it and thank you for it.

I’m from Colombia and here we don’t really have an Apple Store or Genius Bar or an authorized Apple service shop. Just Authorized Apple resellers so yeah, I can’t really get a battery test done. Something I can say from this phone is that it was bought in november 2021 and it has been used for 2 years and the battery condition is still at 88% with 680 cycles and has always performed well so I don’t think there’s a problem with the battery. I noticed it was definitely this f ing update that messed things up.
