Failed to open macOS installer

I was trying to wipe the computer of all my stuff before giving it to my daughter and I guess I also deleted the OS??

When I try to install macOS Sierra through disk utility, it eventually says 'An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again.' I have tried running first aid first and everything. It was giving me the folder with the question mark for a while and now it's saying 'Failed to open macOS installer'. Any help would be appreciated!

Try downloading VenturaOS and i really don't think that you can delete operating system while resetting you machine. And if your mac cannot support Ventura try Catalina maybe this would work for you all the best and if it doesn’t let me know what error you machine is showing.

install these version from the internet on external drive and then connect drive to machine { download only one operating system at once } and if it dose not automatically starts try disk utility while the external disk is connected to machine.

How can I do that? The only screens I can get to on that computer is the one with the folder with the question mark, internet recovery, and the disk utility option one.
