Poor photos quality in iPhone 15 Pro

I switched from the iPhone 12 Pro to the iPhone 15 Pro because I was hoping for a better camera, but here's the twist—the photo quality on the iPhone 15 Pro is actually worse!

I've attached some pics I took with the iPhone 11 Pro and the new iPhone 15 Pro. Take a look, zoom in, and check the details to figure out which is which. It's a bit frustrating, and just to be clear, it's not a dirty lens problem—it seems like there's some issue with how the photos are processed.

I'm missing my old phone's camera right now. Any thoughts on whether it's a settings thing or what might be going on?

I 100% agree I just got the iphone15 pro upgrading from the 12 Pro and I am extremely disappointed with the photo quality. I don’t know what I can do about it. The sharpness of the photos in the 12 Pro just doesn’t even compare to the 15 Pro the 15 Pro photos are very blurry.

I was in apple again today after a week of trying and testing more photos. They say there is nothing wrong with the phone and that it’s something they will note in the feedback. It doesn’t help me now. I will need to buy a separate camera to take decent images. Big failure on Apples part. It’s the first time I am disappointed with Apple and it’s given me serious doubts about the direction they’re headed in. My next upgrade may well not be an iPhone.

Hi

I bought the iPhone 15 Pro as a replacement for the 13 Pro Max, thinking that the camera would be a big improvement. I use the camera every working day for work taking photos of plants and flowers. I work at a garden centre. I was quite happy with the 13 pro max; the macro mode worked very well. I thought the 15 Pro would be a serious upgrade. I am so disappointed; the photos are terrible. I've been to Apple support on Regent Street. They explained how to use the wide angle for macro. I experimented all this week, and still, I am bitterly disappointed. It is the first time in my life that I have been so disappointed in an iPhone. It really brings into question the company I go to for my next phone, and I'm using the entire Apple ecosystem– MacBook Pro, watch, earphones and more.

I'm going back to Regent to complain again tomorrow. If they cannot figure out a solution, I will seriously consider switching to Samsung or a competitor with a better camera– which will be a complete reconsideration of the eco-system I'm using; as I was thinking of buying an iPad Pro.

What's infuriating is the arrogance of Apple support at the Genius Bar, which made me feel that I was not using the camera correctly. This is absolute BS, as I've been photographing for my job for a few years now and haven't had these problems. Apple is supposed to make phones that are easier to use.

What is infuriating is that the 15 Pro does not have manual focus control; it relies on autofocus. It is absolutely terrible. Does anyone else have comments on this?

I wanted to share an update on my recent experience with iPhone photography. After searching YouTube for tips from professional photographers, I found a solution that works brilliantly: using Adobe Lightroom to take photos. Lightroom offers manual control over focus, aperture, and other settings, which has significantly improved the quality of my photos.

Fortunately, I have access to a work Adobe account, so I can use Lightroom without any additional cost. An added benefit is that Lightroom provides storage, freeing up my iCloud space. I can then choose which photos I want to import into iCloud.

It’s disappointing that Apple’s native camera app doesn’t offer manual focus, relying instead on algorithms to determine the focus point. Apple should seriously consider adding manual focus options in their software updates, as many users without an Adobe subscription could benefit from these features.
