How do I stop having to put in my mac password every time I wake my new Macbook Air from sleep?

I just upgraded and got a new Macbook Air and every time it goes to sleep I have to put in my Mac password. I had it migrated from my old macbook pro at the Apple store and I NEVER had to do that with the pro. Is there a setting I can set to stop having to do that? I have no security problems where I use this. It is not for work and I live alone. I am so tired of having to put in the password all the time. I never had to do it before unless I powered it down and did a restart. I am also really sick of all the double passwords and having to get a code every time I do something. Is there a way to stop all the double password plus code stuff? It is so annoying for me sitting in my living room with no one but me having physical access to this mac. Is there anyway to cut down on the overkill for those of us who are not charged with guarding the launch codes for the next rocket from NASA?

"Thank you, Jack-19. I'm trusting this will work, I haven't tested it yet."

Backup your Mac, and then give it a go. Report back if it works.

Important: Be certain to create a backup of your Mac prior to making any major change to it (i.e. Password Settings). That way, you can have something to restore from the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall. Once reinstalled, try this once more.
