how do I know if my Mac has iPhoto and how do I access it

I do not know how to find out if my iMac came with iPhoto or not. How do I possibly find this information?

"iPhoto" was discontinued in 2015 and replaced by "Photos"

"Photos" was in included in Yosemite 10.10.3 and later macOS versions.

You can see the model year of your iMac and what OS version is currently installed by going to Apple menu > About This Mac.

You can use Spotlight Search (magnifying glass icon in menu bar or command spacebar key combination) to search for apps such as iPhoto or Photos.
