iCloud deleted Windows Pictures folder

Hello,

I have been using Windows store iCloud program, but when trying to sync my photos from my iPhone, it said it couldn't backup them into the associated path, asking me to restart the program. Which I did, but same message, so I've tried to move the path of iCloud/Photos to Users/Pictures, unticking the sync with iCloud photos to tick it back just after. But then, iCloud seemed to have reset its folder, and with it all of my Users/Pictures folder.

Couldn't be worst, there was some professional, personal, memories of time in my family former country, you know all this sweet stuff stored in what I thought a safe place before a dodgy program would mess it all.

I'd like to know if any of you have experienced it, and if so, any help would be welcome!

Hello dear friend, don't be sad, there's hope :

After 3 days, I found a way to get your files back : /!\ try not to overuse your computer as your files are on the edge to be overwritten

1. Recover lost files with a software (read carefully the instructions and use other drive that the one where files has been lost) : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recover-lost-files-on-windows-10-61f5b28a-f5b8-3cc2-0f8e-a63cb4e1d4c4 or/and https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva/download

2. Repair corrupted files that you've just recovered with this command prompt software, have a look at the pictures step by step to understand how it works : https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec_Step_By_Step

3. Find biggest files by search in the recovery directory 'size:medium' (or others regarding what you want to recover)

... and from now, backup with automatic files history and save on external backup drive / cloud.

Hope you'll be able to have them back!
