STOP changing my settings during updates

After every update now Apple changes my settings. I have my devices setup the way I want. STOP changing them.

I have also had an iPhone since iPhone 3g.

I have never had issues like this until the last year or so.

For some time (maybe since iPadOS 16?) Apple updates regularly change Screentime settings on my child's iPad, and I do believe that others are affected by this also.

Now, as of IOS17, updates have changed settings in Privacy/Location and in Password/Password Options.

Specifically, in Password Options, I do NOT want Verification Code (or any received texts) to be Cleaned Up Automatically. I switch that option to OFF, but after each iOS17 update, it is switched back to ON.

I have also seen minor settings changes elsewhere. It is not OK with me for Apple to push these changes. If the change is due to a security concern they should say so via a prompt.

If not they should leave it alone.

I have been updating my devices ever since I bought my first device in 2009. iPhone 3Gs, 4S, 5, 6, SE (1st Gen), 7, 8 and iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 13, Macbook Air 2019, MacBook Pro 16"

I never had any issues with any iOS, iPadOS, or macOS updates to date changing my settings.

iOS updates generally aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. Issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

This seems purely coincidental so please check the Setting on your device.

See what each update does: About iOS 17 Updates, About iOS 16 Updates, About iOS 15 Updates, About iOS 14 Updates, About iOS 13 Updates, About iOS 12 Updates, and so on...

Similarly, I've noticed changes in settings that I did not authorize. Whether they occurred with an update or otherwise, I don't know, but they were done without any consultation or notification to me.

E.g. Siri's voice was changed, dictation was turned off - these are 2 that have occurred recently.

Some settings changes are easy to notice and fix. Others require investigating and troubleshooting the cause for the unexpected behavior. All instances require time that I shouldn't have to spend. Because Apple should leave the settings exactly the way they were set, or at least notify me if there is some need to change them.
