Adding punctuation after autocorrected word deletes the word in pages

In pages (iPhone), whenever I auto finish or auto correct a word, it automatically highlights the word and suggests to revert it to what it was before. And whenever I try to add punctuation, because the word is highlighted, it will replace the entire word with that punctuation. This is SUPER annoying. And the only reason this happens is because of another annoying feature: the annoying automatic space you can’t turn off. I can add punctuation after the annoying space just fine, but once I try to delete it like I normally do, it just highlights the entire word! I can’t tap before the annoying space - because that also highlights the word. I have to highlight, then unhighlight it every single time I want to add any sort of punctuation. It only recently started doing this, and it’s seriously frustrating me.

If you turn off auto correction on the keyboard settings it seems to not do it, but you then don’t get the benefits of the auto correct.

Really really stupid feature to add, with this version.
