The notification “Dismiss Double Tap” has been appearing consistently on my iWatch 8. No apps are running. It interferes with being able to read watch face. How can I make it stop? Rebooting worked for a while, but no more.

The feature WAS available on at least the Series 8 as I turned it on at some point months ago.
The feature stopped working recently even thought the "Double Tap to Dismiss" message continues to appear.
In Settings -> Gestures (on both my Apple Watch and the Watch App on my iPhone) only the Cover to Mute setting is visible.
I'd like to turn the feature off but the setting is gone.

It appears that "Assistive Touch" was either added or "upgraded' at some point. It also appears that Gestures and Double tap were on by default. Depending on your series, hunt the problem down in these areas and turn it off.
Worked for my wife's watch.

The double tap option is, indeed, on my Apple Watch series 8. My problem is that the little box with the message to double tap keeps appearing, even when there is nothing to dismiss. It is annoying, plus it covers part of the watch face, making it difficult to read.
I have a series 7 Apple Watch the dismiss double tap message started to appear on my watch too. I can’t seem to turn it off any suggestions?? It’s really annoying
