I see notification “Dismiss double pinch” every time I raise my watch which displays on top of the selected watch background I choose. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this. Friends do not have same issues, so clearly it is a setting

You seem to have Assistive Touch turned on
Go to My Watch, Accessibility, Assistive Touch, off
In worst case scenario you may have to turn it back on and turn off options in those settings before turning it off again.
