Spam event in calendar

I have an unwanted calendar invitation that I have declined but within a second it’s back in my calendar. How can I stop this? I have looked in the calendar app and there are no unknown subscriptions to delete.

From talking to Apple on this subject

  • Spam invites received on Calendar and visible on the iPhone calendar
  • Running the latest iOS version available 17.2.1 (its mid Jan 2024)
  • The invites in question had the added inconvenience of being a daily occurrence for months
  • No option appears to be available to delete directly on Calendar

To effectively delete the invite(s)

1) Go to your original email provider (gmail, outlook, etc) - that is the email to which the spam invite was sent

and delete it there.

This circumvent the issue of replying with an acceptance, decline, etc.

Unfortunately, you may need to connect on a browser to your email provider

2) Once deleted, the likelihood is that the invite image may still show on the iPhone Calendar

3) To get rid of the 'image', one can only do so by

Remove your email account from the iPhone (from settings) and once all info removed (email, notes, calendar and contacts)

4) Reconnect the email account

I left it with Apple, as a remove/reload is not a sustainable in the long term.

But at least the iPhone Calendar is no longer clogged, nor are reminders for spam events showing up anymore
