When on a call, the call screen, if that's what you call it, where there is the red button to hang up, suddenly disappears. How do you get back there? Not talking about opening an app or black screen from the sensor.

You can try to force restart your iPhone, if it’s not working, or you noticed that after an update just contact Apple Support to have your iPhone tested

The regular dialing keypad does not have an end call button dude.
Maybe somebody else can answer this simple question.
Ok I apologize for my built up frustration with this issue.
Support was an astounding 45 minute wait but
I did finally notice the little green button in the top left which takes me back to the grey call screen with the red end button.

Strange because if you close it you’re hanging up the phone, anther way is to tap the phone and go to the keypad
It’s in the background, just swipe up the screen to get it back
