HomePod mini randomly doing stuff

For the last 4 days 1 of my 2 HomePod Minis have been acting weird. It will randomly go "haha", start playing music "picked just for me" (songs I would never listen to), last night it sounded like I was listening in to a guy leaving a voicemail. Today it started playing music. I told it to stop, it stopped and 5 seconds later started up again. I finally had to unplug both of them.

I have totally removed them from HomeKit, reset them both and checked all settings, I am the only one with access. I am at a breaking point. If I plug them back in and it does it again, I am going to toss it across the room.

A Google search shows one or two others with random sounds and music. I bought them both shortly after they were released so they are way out of warranty. Going on about 3 years so maybe it's just going bad. Should I attempted contacting support or is it time to upgrade to the regular HomePod?

I am in a very similar situation. I’ve had my HomePod minis for years without any issues and all of a sudden, today, one of them just started acting very weird. It was picking up requests very often, even without anyone asking it anything or even talking. Tonight, when we were upstairs sleeping, at 4am, it started playing music on full blast. We went down there and turned it off but then it started playing again. I unplugged it and moved it to another room for further troubleshooting in the morning, but for now I’m fairly convinced we have a ghost.

Very weird.

Same issues with mine. First the one about a month ago playing music at 100% volume at 4am. Then randomly started performing requests with now one asking. Then last night watching the new Trolls movie with only one mini. It insisted the volume be 100%. Then started telling jokes in the middle of the movie. They are both unplugged.

I did a factory reset on them both in late November early December. The one I trashed last night started working fine again. Until last night.
