Touch bar Macbook Pro M1 2020 flickering

The touch bar of my macbook pro has been flickering for almost 6 months now. It started about two weeks after the warranty expired. It was very small at the beginning and now it covers all the touch bar, rendering the laptop unusable, as it is very disturbing to see the flicker.

I went to the genius bar at the apple store close to my home, and they said that they need to replace the whole upper case, which costs more then 600 euros. However, I that this issue has happened to a lot more people with a MacBook pro that includes a touch bar, which makes it obvious that this is a manufacturing problem. Thus, I believe that I should be refunded or have my Mac replaced. What does apple have to say about it?

I have always loved Apple products, but I find this very unnerving. I don't want to pay 600 euros for an issue that was not caused by me, and that might happen again even after the repair. This has significantly decreased my trust on Apple.

Typically indicates a hardware issue-yes.

Put black electrician tape over it if you can not justify the repair, and it is "unusable" as is...

you will have to contact Apple , it seems they already told you what they say.

This is one of the most unhelpful responses someone could have given. Do you even realise that a lot of key functions in Macbook Pros with touch bar depend on the touch bar? If you don't have a good answer, why even reply?
