My AirTags are not showing up as mine. I continue to get messages that say that unknown AirTags are following me. I have tried removing the AirTag from my device to reconnect it and it says it could not be found.

Gotcha! Then there is something else amiss that is not allowing you to remove it from your Apple ID, and then, re-add it.
As such I suggest that you contact Apple Support directly for further assistance with this matter. To do so, simply select the "Support" link on the lower left-hand side of this forum's web page.
You are seeing this message because this AirTag is paired to someone else's Apple ID ... so technically, it is NOT yours. Just trying to reset it will not solve this issue. You will need to contact its original owner for them to remove this pairing.
It will need to be removed from the AppleID to which they ARE paired.
I am the original owner. They were synced to my Apple account.
