Just updated the iOS on my iWatch this morning, and now when I swipe up, I no longer have access to airplane mode, silencing, etc., and instead have “hints” that won’t go away. I finally silenced my watch on the iPhone app. Where did these helpful things go??

I am not happy with the change as well and agree with everyone else here . Why do you feel the need to not give us the choice of how our device works for us. Is your watch not smart enough for that ? Please give back the the easy swipe up function for airplane, silent, theater mode ect. Or let us revert our watches to the features that were sold to us when we purchased our devices. I have had my Ultra less than a year, can i return it for full refund now that it does not work the same as when i purchased it ?

Well, that’s a hassle. I have to scroll through a list of apps to settings, then scroll through settings to airplane mode or sounds and haptics (and then again for silent mode). It was so easy just to swipe up and hit airplane or the bell for silencing the phone. Not happy.

The previous Control Center swipe-up has moved to a quick press and release of the flat oval side button

DO NOT hold the button, as that brings up Emergency services and the power off icon.
Getting the press and release timing just right can be an issue. You can make it more reliable by changing:
Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed
“Side Button Click Speed” can adjust the press and release timing, so you get the Control Center display every time. Adjusting The "Side Button Click Speed" is also useful for Apple Pay’s double press and release. There is “Default” (sub second timing of needed), “Slow” (up to a second between press and release), and “Slowest” (up to 2 seconds between press and release). I like the “Slow” setting.
NOTE: Slow and Slowest settings do not mean you have to wait a full second or 2 seconds between press and release. It just means you do not need to be super fast.

I agree. I do NOT like that Apple changed this feature! Very angry about it.

The Oval flush to the surface of the Apple Watch side button, NOT the rotating Digital Crown.
It's moved to to the side button below the dial. Yay!!
