I can't download Zoom on my MacBook Pro

Zoom page opens then says I need to download the upgrade but it then fails to download the upgrade

When I tried, I received Zoom error code 10004 and could not update Zoom and Zoom would not function. I then tried completely removing Zoom and installing it again, but I still wasn't able to install Zoom. I got the error message, "The Installation Failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." I then tried rebooting my mac in safe mode and installing Zoom again but I get the same Installation Failed message. Any advice would be appreciated. Need Zoom software Have old MAC OS 10.11.6 El Capitan. Any way to get version of Zoom for my computer? Looked on Zoom community site but questions were regarding downgrading to earlier version of Zoom. But I don't own any version.

Mac Jim ID's advice is very good. For some reason, updating from within Zoom doesn't always work.
