How to lower volume past lowest volume on iphone?

Hello,

My problem is that the lowest volume my iphone can achieve is still uncomfortable and too loud for my ears when I'm using my headphones.

Is there a way to minimize the volume even more than the volume slider can go?

I've already set spotify's volume to the lowest it can go and my headphones don't have any companion app I can mess with.

On my old android phone I was able to lower the volume more than the buttons could through a feature called something like "individual app volume", but I've scoured both my settings and the internet and I have not found any feature like this for my iphone.

Thanks!

iPhone SE, iOS 17

But there is no fix. Not until Apple engineers decide to do something. But Apple engineers do not visit the community.

On iPod nano (7th generation) has a setting called volume limit. Which when enabled, will rescale the normal volume slider. This means the minimum volume becomes lower with volume limit on. The exact same setting used to be in iOS up until iOS 11. But in iOS 12, this setting was replaced with headphone safety (a.k.a. reduce loud sounds), which only clips the max volume but does not change the minimum volume.

I recommend getting an old iPhone for your purpose. An iPhone 5 would allow you to use the volume limit feature to lower the minimum volume on the iPhone.

Found this YouTube video that actually fixed the problem. Maybe not down to 1% volume, but somewhere between 2-3%. Which is lower than the lowest volume you are able to achieve with the volume buttons.

Solution

Simply go to the control center and press/hold the volume bar, and swipe down. You are then able to swipe the volume bar lower.
