HomePod won’t connect to Wi-Fi during setup following reset and restore after failing to update

My HomePod mini (currently 17.1) was trying unsuccessfully for many hours to download update 17.1.1 and obviously wasn’t available for use. I tried to reset it with no response; connected it to Mac and restored it. I try to set it up and at the final step it keeps failing to connect to Wi-Fi.

I have repeatedly unplugged and plugged the HomePod as well as the router without any results.

Please help me.

I have the same issue with 2 of my 7 HomePod minis; I tried multiple solutions, a full factory restore using my Mac, forgetting WiFi networks, resetting network settings on my iPhone, rebooting my router etc and no solution. I just spent over 1hr on the phone with a senior technician and basically their view was I’d tried everything they could think of (which we did again for completeness) and still no fix. It is a known issue and she voted on it but had no idea of a timeframe for a fix.
