I don't want favorited songs being added to my library

What a terrible choice. How can I like/favorite a song from my weekly New Music playlist without all those individual songs cluttering up my Library?

Edit: this was supposed to be a question about an article but Discussions is so broken and user unfriendly Apple doesn't even mention that article. So here goes: How to add and find favorites in Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, or Android - Apple Support

Please allow us to favourite a song without it adding it to the library like before. If I want to add it I’ll do it in my own playlist. Favourite a song is so Apple can know my likes to send me similar music, not to clutter up my library

If I want to play it again, I'll add it to my library. When I'm listening e.g. to my weekly New Music playlist, I want to make the algorithm better by favoriting songs. But I don't want my "Recently added" (nor my Library) being cluttered with album cover art for which I only have one individual song.

This is also the reason why I have unchecked the "Add songs to Library when adding to playlists".

Anyway, Apple themselves think they have made a mistake as well because apparently they are going to bring the option back: https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleMusic/comments/17vddsg/we_made_it_favorites_are_now_being_added_to_your/

I like how it adds your favourite/liked songs to a playlist on its own. However, I strongly dislike how it adds every single album to your library making it very annoying to get to your set playlists. As well as, after a certain amount of playlists/albums are added into your library the playlists that can be found at the very bottom stop appearing as it is so filled.

Favoriting songs (previously liking or disliking) was a great tool to help the algorithm or what ever metrics they use to help pick the songs for our "New Music Playlist" or what gets shown to us on the browse tab. I do agree, it's great to be able to find all our favorite songs in one place, but if people did what I did, which was make a playlist adding all the songs we "loved" to it, there was no need for this feauture.

I always noticed when I listened to that New Music playlist and liked or disliked the songs, it was always better the following week. & the times when I never had the time to listen to it, it was like eventually the songs they were putting were no where near my taste.

I'll be somewhat contrary here and ask who is the like/favourite for if not for you so that you can more easily find that track and play it again? If you don't want the track/artist/album/playlist added to your library don't favourite it. I'm guessing that the feature is working exactly as Apple designed it to (not always the case I'll grant) but that isn't always going to suit everyone. You can use Product Feedback - Apple to share your thoughts with Apple.

I am grateful that this has been resolved for songs, and still allows users to choose. Excellent!

It would be great if a toggle could added for favoriting an album (without adding all the songs to my library). I often want to favorite an album to locate it quickly, but I don't want all the individual songs cluttering my library.

Cheers,
