It would help if you shared what the problem is.

I don't have that display to test, but can say that you need two cables.

1. Toss the Dell supplied HDMI cable and use a short Premium Certified HDMI cable.
2. Then a USB-C cable between the Mac Studio and the Dell's upstream USB-C port.

In addition to den.thed's good advice:

Only the M2 (2023 or later) model of Mac Studio supports that very high HDMI data rate.

I would recommend a certified HDMI cable labled:

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

In Windows-land, it seems that the solution for every display issue is to download files described as "Drivers".

These are NOT Drivers in the usual sense, they are merely display settings packages, containing a matched set of resolutions and refresh rates for your specific display. Windows settings are done manually, or if you prefer, with these liitle side-loaded profiles.

The Mac uses a system that reminds me of “Plug and play” to determine what display is connected, and what its capabilities are.

To get a Mac display to become active, you need the Mac to query the display, and the display to answer with its name and capabilities. Otherwise, the display will not be shown as present, and no data will be sent to the display. "No signal detected" is generated by the DISPLAY, not by the Mac.

This query is only sent at certain times:

• at startup

• at wake from sleep — so momentarily sleeping and waking your Mac may work

• at insertion of the Mac-end of the display-cable, provided everything on that cable is ready-to-go

• hold the Option key while you click on the (Detect Display) button that will appear in Displays preferences (from another display)

Because the Mac asks the DISPLAY what it is capable of, Side-loading a display Profile does NOTHING for you.

No, the firmware in the display is very much a part of the process of running the processor in the display, and supporting its features, moment-by-moment.

Display Firmware updates sometimes include updates to the (surprisingly-large) capabilities report sent to the Mac, so having that display firmware be up-to-date can be important if you are pushing-the-envelope.

Unfortunately, most display makers do not have a Mac-based firmware updater, and require you run the firmware update process on a Windows machine.

You are doing just fine.

The Mac Studio Display is a very nice high-end display for professional color grading and full motion video editing. MANY users here have already expressed their dismay with its Price, and already made the decision that its features are not worth the Price FOR THEM.

You are on the right track, just forget about Windows "Drivers" on a Mac. As I described above, the Mac sets the resolution automatically.

Adapters and cables are slightly more complicated when you go off the Apple path, but just avoid HDMI-ONLY high-end displays and you will be fine. if you have issues hooking it up, just post back here and Readers will be eager to explore what is happening.
