iMessage History not showing on new iPhone13

Message history not displaying on iPhone.

I recently did a full backup of iPhone from iTunes when getting a new phone.

Message history is not displaying despite settings > general > iPhone storage showing quite a bit of memory used up by messages. All new messages are coming through OK.

Phone is synced to iCloud, which has more than enough storage available as it is paid iCloud.

Things tried;

  • restarted the message app
  • force reset the phone
  • turned off iMessage and back on again
  • reset all settings to default

Here are some additional things you can try to fix your iMessage history not showing on your new iPhone 13:

  1. Check your iMessage settings. Make sure that iMessage is turned on and that your Apple ID is connected. You can check this by going to Settings > Messages > iMessage.
  2. Sign out and back in to iCloud. Sometimes signing out and back in to iCloud can resolve iMessage sync issues. To do this, go to Settings > Your Name > Sign Out. Then, sign back in with your Apple ID.
  3. Restore your iPhone from an iCloud backup. If your iMessage history is still not showing up after trying the above steps, you can try restoring your iPhone from an iCloud backup. To do this, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.Then, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
