Plays not updating

Recently, when using my Apple Music app, the number of times a song has played is not updating. Typically, I can see a running count of the number of times a song has played on my desktop iTunes app. Sometimes I've noticed songs take up to 24 hours to update. I have "Use Listening History" selected on my iPhone SE and have never changed this setting. I also have this setting set on my iTunes as well and I have never changed it. When playing songs from my desktop, the iTunes app automatically updates the "Plays" in real time. I have restarted, signed in/signed out, shut my iPhone down, etc., etc. There must be something I'm missing, something simple. Anyone know how to get the plays from my iPhone to return to counting the plays?

Same problem here since updating iphone SE to iOS 17 about a month ago. Looking through the discussions, it seems like many people are having the same issue.


I've checked/changed settings, deleted and re-installed the app on the phone and numerous other things.


Did a "chat" session with what I can only assume was an apple "bot", since it was next to useless and consisted of advice such as "close the app, try again", "shut the phone down and restart and try again". I lost patience pretty quickly.


I've read in various threads that apple are aware of the issue. I hope that is true and they sort it out.


Spotify is looking pretty good at the moment :)
