itunes library empty after 17.1 upgrade

after upgrade to 17.1, my itunes library is empty. I have to shut down itunes app then reopen to get the music to appear. I have to do this repeatedly throughout the day. Also iTunes playlist sometimes gets stuck on a song, stops playing, and I can not forward to next song - I have to shut down and then reopen iTunes app.

It is displaying only what's been added in the past 2 months, not everything going back years, as it had previously. I have searched music/itunes preferences to try changing the settings back to whatever they were before (the ios update) but the music preferences are very very very limited... nothing relates to recently added tracks. Large parts of the iTunes Store in Apple Music are empty. Looking for new music, whether it's on the store homepage like New Releases or Pre-orders or directly via an artist page, doesn't show any albums, songs, etc. I've tried resetting the store cache, signing out/in, restarting the app, computer, etc. but nothing works. This has been happening for about at week on my Windows 11 maching; the iTunes Store app on my iPhone works fine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

itunes I cannot search my iTunes library for specific songs. The default is the iTunes store. On the upper right-hand side of the screen there used to be a way to toggle between Library/iTunes/Music and that has disappeared. No matter how I click on the search bar on the left-hand side it only allows me to search the iTunes store.

It's called Music library not iTunes library.

Close the app and force restart:

Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch – Apple Support (AU)

Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (AU)

You could also try offloading the app and downloading it again.
