Deleted Home still showing up on other user's devices

I deleted the accessories and users from a home in Apple's Home app and then deleted the home, but other users that were invited to the home can still access the home.

When the other users view the details of the home, they can see that I'm the owner of the home even though I deleted it.

Is there a way to completely get rid of this "glitched" home?

Some additional details

  • A home hub was never set up due to not having an Apple TV
  • The user I invited to the home and I both have our devices up to date (iOS 17.0.3 & iPadOS 17.0.3)
  • the home was updated to the New home architecture update
  • The home was created and users were invited before the home architecture update existed

I contacted apple support and they told me that this is intended functionality and that other users won't be removed from the home if it is deleted. Though I still don't know why removing somebody from the home didn't actually remove them from the home!?!

I'm also now experiencing the same issue with family sharing and calendars too!

It seems like anything that has to do with sharing something to another iCloud user doesn't even work properly.

Deleting a family in family sharing doesn't remove the user from the family on the other user's end.

deleting an event in the calendar app doesn't remove the event on the other users end.

what am I doing wrong?!?!!
