Tapping the VM icon locks up the phone app
On iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17.0.3:
In the Phone app, tapping the VoiceMail icon locks up the Phone App. Once I try this, NOTHING works in the Phone App, even after waiting 30 seconds. Tapping anywhere on the screen has no effect. The only solution is to force quit the phone app (drag up and away), relaunch the phone app, wait about 10 seconds because its a blank white screen, and it will either then load and function or it will crash and you can then launch the phone app again.
All functions work except tapping the VoiceMail icon. I can tap any button in any order---numbers, symbols, Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad---over and over, but as soon as I tap the VoiceMail button, its toast. Locks up.
I have a red dot on the VoiceMail icon.
I can press and hold 1, and it dials VoiceMail (AT&T), and I can then hear my messages. But if I attempt to do it the modern iPhone way by tapping the VoiceMail icon...nothing.
Yes, I have rebooted.
Yes, I have contacted AT&T. My VM system is working. That is apparent because I can press and hold the "1" button and it will dial VM and allow me into my VMs.
It has been this way since I upgraded from my iPhone X two weeks ago. All content was successfully migrated and I have disabled, logged out, and reset my old iPhone.
Please help. Otherwise my next stop is the Apple Store.
