Why is macOS safari the only browser unable to stop animated gifs? When will it be possible? It can be extremely disturbing and I sometimes am forced to use other browsers on my Mac computer, especially when using a larger display. Using Ventura now and it remains an issue.

As it's coming to IOS 17, and MacOS now has IOS-style Settings instead of Preferences, why haven't we heard that it's in Sonoma? It *would* get me to switch!

Recently, Apple added this feature to Accessibility on behalf of individuals who are sensitive to rapid animations or have vestibular disorders. But it also helps those of us who are annoyed by these childish intrusions. (The New York Times is among the worst violators.)

Solution? Turn these settings OFF:

iOS: Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Auto-Play Animated Images

macOS: System Settings > Accessibility > Display > Auto-play animated images
