"Battery Performance and Overheating: Updated my iPhone 12 to 17.0.3 and immediately noticed the battery draining at fast rate. Lost 10% in less than 5 minutes. Also the device is getting hotter than before the iOS 17.0.3 update. I have never charged my phone many times before this update. Battery health at 89%."

Thank you for the screenshot.
ou're not the first to have reported this on these forums. This is a well-known issue. Power is a big concern for iPhone 12 series and up, after installing iOS 17 versions. Question is: "Jost how many people have actually reported this to Apple.
Troubleshooting a Draining iPhone Battery:
A. Battery Drain Info:
The iPhone battery will drain, unless it is plugged in and charging. With lots installed, the charge would be slower. As for how fast it would drain the battery, that would depend on the battery health and the volume (sound) you use.
- Go Here: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support
- Scroll Down: to "Your battery's maximum capacity"
B. Verify the Baterry Health Percentage:
Apple recommends you get a new battery, once the Battery Health reaches 80% or lower. When the Battery Health is 80% or lower, it is time for a new battery. Unfortunately, these if no way to know how, nor when, then percentage decrease occurred. So see if it tine for a new battery...
- Go To: Settings
- Tap: Battery
- Tap: Battery Health
- View: [the percentage]
- Is it 80% or less? If so, it is time for a new battery.
C. Troubleshooting the Battery:
