Camera roll videos don’t play, unless I restart phone. Then they work for an hour or so and it happens again

Non of the videos will play in my camera roll. The solutions I’ve found so far are send them by text or WhatsApp and I can see them there or restart phone, then it works for an hour or two.


I use my phone to do social media for my work so it’s becoming a real problem.

mine is the iPhone 12 Pro Max, uptodate iOS etc.

iIce tried looking it up but I just get info on watching videos in TikTok or Facebook etc when this is just ones on my phone. I can literally just take a video, and not be able to play it.

Excellent kazkazkazkaz,


So storage isn't a concern here. Do you recall when this issue started? Also, does this occur with both videos that you have taken as well as ones sent to you or saved from an outside source? We just want to try and narrow down where the core issue may lie.


Additionally, when the videos fail to play, do you see any errors or alerts? What happens when you try to play them and they're not working?

Thanks so much for replying!

It happens to all videos once saved into the photo app. So if I’ve just taken it it doesn’t work or if I save it from an online source or say WhatsApp. However I can see them within WhatsApp for example.

it means I have a way to see them but I can edit them in anyway.

I don’t get any errors just nothing happens.

if, however I turn my phone off and on again it then works for anything up to the end of that day, but the next day it happens again. (Like ground hog day :-))
