My search bar in Safari has disappeared!

I just updated to MacOS Sonoma and after the update it has completely removed my search bar on Safari. There is just an empty spot of where it used to be and yes I have tried to customize the toolbar to try and get it back and as well restarting my Mac. The search bar icon on my Touch Bar is also unresponsive. I have a 2020 MacBook Pro and am currently running on macOS Sonoma 14.0. If anyone else has experienced this or is experiencing this right now please let me know how I can fix this.

I actually did figure it out .. I wish you replied sooner ! I cant remember , but I called up the apple support line and someone looked and helped .

none of those things worked ( didnt try safe mode )

this is so frustrating , whenever I try to customize the toolbar to put it back it crashes the app .. I need a search /address bar

I guess they messed it up and will be fixed with new update ??

I still haven’t found a solution to this issue unfortunately I gave up all hope to get this issue fixed and just ended up downloading Chrome. This issue is annoying and although Chrome was my last resort I just ended up downloading it. The “solutions” offered by Apple were no help and I went into the Apple Store to try and resolve this issue but it turns out I already did everything they could do to try and resolve the issue and when then I was scheduled to talk to an Apple genius supervisor over the phone I missed the call and they never offered to reschedule so I stopped trying. I’ll keep everyone updated if I get a solution.

If Safari is not working as expected, here are some resources that can help.

Make sure Safari is not in full screen Use apps in full screen on Mac
Customize the tool bar Customize the Safari browser window on Mac
Make sure you have the desired home page set Change your home page in Safari on Ma
To troubleshoot, you can follow If Safari doesn't open a page or work as expected on your Mac.
Test if this happens in safe mode Use safe mode on your Mac

ever figure this out? i see "community specialist" person couldn't care to respond to you when nothing they gave as solutions worked. haven't worked for me, either. and here we are, working on three months since your request and apple once again proves all they can do is give canned responses like robots, not real solutions from human beings.
