FaceTime Audio Problems with iMac

Garbled, echo voice ... running Ventura 13.5.2. For years i made calls from my iMac, but for the last 6 months the voice is very garbled with an echo. Initially I thought it was my Wifi but after reading about this issue back in 2019, and not seeing a resolution, I am surprised it is not a fixed issue. Anyone else experiencing this..

Hello Gabes McDonald,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with a garbled echo effect when making calls on your Mac. If these are FaceTime calls, try the steps here to see if they resolve the issue: Change audio options for FaceTime calls on Mac - Apple Support

You can also try the steps here to see if they help if the settings don't change anything: If FaceTime isn't working on your Mac - Apple Support

"If you need help with your connection or call quality

A slow or busy Wi-Fi network might cause issues with your FaceTime call. If you experience connection alerts, or low-quality audio or video, or an exclamation point  over a video tile:

  • Make sure that you and your recipient have a fast Wi-Fi or cellular connection. FaceTime calls over Wi-Fi require a broadband connection.
  • Check for issues that might be slowing down your connection, such as someone streaming content over your network.
  • If you have questions about your internet speed, contact your internet service provider."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
