Malware detected

Hello, I recently tried to download an application from the internet. I put on my desktop and went to open it but Apple detected it as Malware. Does this mean it wasn’t fully installed and the virus wouldn’t have been able work or should I still be worried?

(P.S I did uninstall the application, put my laptop into safe boot mode and contacted support.. it would just make me feel even better if I knew that there was a less likely chance of the malware being able to do it’s thing)

If you only opened the application and your OS gave this warning "macOS scanned this file for malware and it has found malware" and after that you did not continue the installation and deleted the downloaded files, you're completely good. For your own feeling, you might want to scan your Mac with the free version of malwarebytes anti malware to make sure that your Mac is malware free.
